Disability Awareness

Disability Awareness is a 2-Day workshop that introduces participants to the issues facing people with an intellectual disability; how they can implement person-centred approaches into their role and practical strategies in how to support people with an intellectual disability.

This workshop is designed for staff working in non-disability specific roles i.e out of home care workers, criminal justice workers, health and allied health staff and anyone that is supporting people with an intellectual disability in the community.

Sessions include:

  • Identifying different types of disability and how the disability impacts the person’s wellbeing
  • Introduction to person-centred approaches
  • Communication and Disability
  • Positive Behaviour Support
  • Inclusive practice
  • Navigating the NDIS and NGO sector
